This monumental sculpture at the Qatar Embassy in Paris measures 5 meters on 2 meter base. It faces the Arc de Triomphe on Champs Elysées.

The following article, dated May 10, 2011, at Paris On Demand, (visit link) states that, "The exhibit in the 8th arrondissement... takes place till June, 30th, however, it was still on display during my visit on August 5, 2012. The article reads:

"As you wander through the streets of the posh 8th arrondissement, you may be surprised to walk into huge sculptures featuring weird forms vaguely resembling giant candies. Don’t worry, you haven’t got sun-stroke, you’re just in front of one of Laurence Jenkell’s sculptures. Since the beginning of May, the sculptures can be admired in 11 different spots of the 8th district : major spots, but also private companies’ headquarters or cultural institutions. The sculptures’ size varies from ~3 to 20 feet and are made of aluminum, Plexiglas , resin or polyester.

Laurence Jenkell was born in 1965 and lives in South of France. She first started her artist career as a painter and became famous for her acidic paintings and collages, always taking inspiration in the consumerist society. When she started to make sculptures, her first works represented candies as she was fascinated by the alchemy of sugar melting before turning into candy and by the colorful wrappings. Her work is meant to materialize desire into objects. The candy is here to remind sweet memories of childhood. Her work is getting quite popular : her sculptures were exposed last year in the Plaza Athenee’s courtyard and she has starred in some major exhibitions abroad : at the Sofitel Hotel in Sydney, Mansing Galery inBerlin…The exhibit in the 8th arrondissement is undoubtedly the highlight of her career. It takes place till June, 30th.

The “candy” sculptures can be seen at the following addresses :

- City Hall of the 8th arrondissement (3, rue de Lisbonne)

- Parc Monceau

- Qatar embassy (1, rue de Tilsit)
