One of the entrances into the SunTrust Plaza is on the northeastern corner of the Plaza. The sidewalk from Peachtree Center Avenue leads up to an entrance into the office building. Near the sidewalk of Peachtree Center Avenue, where the walkway up to the Plaza begins, is found a fifteen foot tall abstract art work. The large bronze parts of the sculpture are rounded like bolders rolled together and stacked. This, of course, depends on the angle from which one views the sculpture and this is one of the appeals of this kind of artistic works. This scupture was created by the famous architect and sculptor, John C Portman. This is the same John Portman after which the John Portman Blvd just a few streets away is named. The sculpture rests upon a low base of black granite tiles that take up 7.5 feet by 6.25 feet of sidewalk area and is 17 inches high. The abstact itself stands 15 feet tall and takes up an area about 7 feet by 6 feet atop its base. A small metal plaque is attached to the base and states:
"Concord
Artist: John Portman"
The bronze abstract sculpture itself is not signed by the artist.
The general location of this art work is on the grounds of the SunTrust Plaza, 303 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308.
