It looks as thought the fire station used to have three entrances for fire fighting vehicles. The two on the left are now open with wrought iron gates blocking the entrance. The one to the right has been made into a wall with a window. The floors above are in use as office space. The gated, open spaces at street level appear to have shop/office fronts and, for some strange reason, a collection of red telephone boxes.
The building was probably opened in 1869 when the adjoining town hall also opened and appears to have closed in 1964.
