The text on the plaque mounted on the front of the house reads as follows:
"451 Besserer
The simple Italianate exterior of this house, enlivened by the intricate figurehead brackets and entablures over the windows, belies the elaborate interior plasterwork created by the original homeowner, plasterer William Beattie. Since its construction, this elegant building has housed many professionals and senior public servants."
