The Plaza de Armas is located on San José Street in Old San Juan. It was the original main square for the city with San Juan City Hall on the north side. At the west side of the square is the Four Seasons Fountain.
A 25' tan stone basin has four white marble statues equidistant from each other. The statues represent each of the four seasons. Clearly, the old bearded man wrapped in heavy robes represents winter. The other three sculptures depict young people, all partially disrobed, that represent spring , summer, and fall. Jets of water rise up from around the edge of the basis and arch towards a smaller raised basin in the center. A spray of water shoots about 8' straight up from the smaller basin. The fountain and the statues are over 100 years old.
