Inaugurated on June 26, 1959, in the presence of Queen Élizabeth II, can undoubtedly highlight the fact that its construction has transformed forever the appearance of the banks of the River on the territory of the city of Sainte-Catherine. Indeed, 54 houses, among the oldest in the area, more than half of the parish, had to be moved and relocated along boulevard Marie-Victorin or other cross streets. The rapids of Sault-St-Louis who had been so familiar to the inhabitants of the coast for more than two centuries stopped to be replaced by the quiet of the great Laker passage part of daily life
