The Principal opened in December 2009 in the heritage listed building fronting Cale Street (originally known as Viveash Street) that was the headmaster quarters dating back to 1901. The beautiful red brick building and timber floors serve as our restaurant, dishing up moden Australian cuisine beyond that of the average pub. With quality table service, our restaurant can comfortably sit approx 65 people at any one time. Try one of our own brewed beers with your meal or a glass of wine from Mandoon Estate, just down the road in Caversham.
Walk through to the the bar, where you can order off the same menu in a more casual atmosphere or just hang out for a few drinks. With 16 beer/cider options on tap there's something for everyone, from local craft to international, plus that cheeky fellow James Squire has leant us a few of his ales. Over beer? We have an extensive wine list, an array of hand picked spirits and deliciously hand-crafted cocktails that won't dissapoint. Can't decide, or need some help? No problem, our staff go through regular beer, wine, spirit and cocktail training sessions and will be happy to help recommend something new or something to compliment your meal of choice.
Catch live music every Friday night and Sunday afternoon, we're open all week from 10:00am 'til late.
