The final resting place of Iva Kern is at the far northeast corner of Rose Hill Burial Park, just west of the Mausoleum. Hers is a horizontal marker near many other members of the Kern family.

Some worldwide events and accomplishments that occurred during Iva's time on earth:

1888: Brazil abolishes the last remnants of slavery.
1898: The Sabi Game Reserve in South Africa, the first officially designated game reserve, is created.
1908: The Hoover Company of Canton, Ohio, acquires manufacturing rights to the upright portable vacuum cleaner just invented by James M. Spangler.
1918: By order of the Bolshevik Party and carried out by the Cheka, Tsar Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, their children, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei, and retainers are executed at the Ipatiev House in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
1928: An iron lung respirator is used for the first time at Children's Hospital, Boston.
1938: A 450-metric-ton (496-short-ton) meteorite explodes about 12 miles (19 km) above the earth near Chicora, Pennsylvania.
1948: Geoffrey B. Orbell rediscovers the Takahe, last seen 50 years previously, near Lake Te Anau, New Zealand.
1958: Cheryl Crane, daughter of actress Lana Turner, fatally stabs her mother's gangster lover Johnny Stompanato (the stabbing is eventually ruled as self-defense).
1968: The Medal of Honor is posthumously awarded to James Anderson, Jr.—he is the first black U.S. Marine to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
1978: Police in the West Midlands of England launch a massive murder hunt, when 13-year-old newspaper boy Carl Bridgewater is shot dead after disturbing a burglary.
1989: Lech Walesa, leader of Poland's Solidarity movement, addresses a Joint session of the United States Congress
