This one-story brick masonry building features three separate storefronts. It was constructed in 1893 for A.F. Brown, founder of Oakland's new town site at the present location along the rail line. The building originally housed Oakland's second commercial bank, a turkey showroom and a grocery store. The center storefront proudly displays the 1893 construction date and for many years has been home to the Lamplighter Inn, a tavern & restaurant. The western third of the building houses a gift shop while the easternmost section is home to the Oakland Museum.
