The final resting place of Ethel Burgess is at the far northeast corner of the Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery, at the northwest corner of the section. Hers is a horizontal, reddish colored marker next to a family monument with the name "Burgess".

1953: James D. Watson and Francis Crick of the University of Cambridge announce their discovery of the structure of the DNA molecule.
1963: George C. Wallace becomes governor of Alabama. In his inaugural speech, he defiantly proclaims "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever!"
1973: The first American prisoners of war are released from Vietnam.
1984: Teachers at the McMartin Preschool in Manhattan Beach, California are charged with Satanic ritual abuse of the schoolchildren; the charges are later dropped as completely unfounded.
