The Prince of Wales - Sculpted in 1880, by sculptor, Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm Bart. R.A. (1834-1890)
An over lifesize marble sculpture of the Prince, who later became King Edward VII, is set into the Temple Bar Monument.
"The niche on the north face holds a marble statue of the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, in Field Marshal's uniform. Carved in the stone above the statue is a coronet topped with the Prince of Wales feathers, below in a cartouche is "AE". Pilasters each side are decorated with emblems of "science" to the left and "art" to the right. These emblems are identical to those around the Queen, on the south side of this monument, with the exception that where she has a small bust of Chaucer, he has Homer." Text Source: (
