"Billie' the pig is a bronze statue that sits at the base of the Pike Hill Climb on Western Avenue and welcomes visitors to Pike Market from the south side entrance. Billie is the lesser-known cousin to the famous
Rachel the Pig who greets visitors at the main entrance to Pike Market. But both pigs' mission is the same: to support services for low-income people at the Market's Clinic, Senior Center, Preschool and Food Bank.
The local artist who created Billie (and Rachel) is Georgia Gerber who lives in Whidbey Island. Billie was brought to Pike Market in 2000 at the same time Rachel was celebrating her 25th birthday at Pike Market. Billie previously spent 10 years at the Market Heritage center.
There is a sign above Billie that encourages visitors to drop some money into her to support the Pike Place Market Foundation. Their motto: Your Change Changes Lives.
