The PGE Building, also known as the Electric Apartments, is a two-story brick commercial building constructed in 1920. For many years, the building housed Andersons Sporting Goods. At the time of the Salem Downtown State Stree-Commercial Street Historic District nomination, the building was considered "non-contributing" due to a 1950s-era big, blue, metal façade that covered this structure and the adjacent Yeater Building, hiding important architectural details. In 2007 work began to remove 1950s façade, revealing the original brickwork and the "Electric Apartments" lettering. On November 15, 2012, the State of Oregon noted that the status of the building had been officially changed to "Eligible Contributing" due to removal of the façade. The building now bears a National Register plaque.
