This world-class science is a showcase for Korea's growing science institution, but it is much more. With more than half of the exhibits with some sort of interactive component, there is a strong dedication to education and to inspiring children with the beauty and challenges of science.

In front of the museum is a popular Science Plaza with many large interactive exhibits, always enjoyed by the children.

This science museum can be easily accessed via the Seoul subway, and there is a large parking facility. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul Land Amusement Park, and the National Zoo are adjacent to the museum. Plan to spend several hours in the museum.

From the official Korean Tourism Site:

"As a landmark facility representing Korea? advanced science and technology capabilities, Gwacheon Sciencetorium shares with the public scientific principles that govern daily lives and shape the future of the nation.

The main building of Gwacheon Sciencetorium (which is shaped like an aircraft taking off) has five open-run exhibition centers: Basic Science Center, High-tech Center, Children's Experience Center, Natural History Center, and Traditional Science Center. Nearby are the planetarium, observatory, outdoor exhibition venue, and insect ecosystem center. In the front yard are the Science Plaza, Science & Culture Square and Sculpture Park where visitors can take a rest and enjoy the great outdoors.

Over 50% of the exhibition items on display at the Sciencetorium are interactive, allowing visitors to jump in and experience science first-hand using both their minds and their imaginations. The museum is one of the leading institutions of its kind worldwide."

Scientific Principle(s) being demonstrated:
Newton's Cradle and many others

Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?:
The large-size Newton's cradle worked perfectly--like those desk-top models one sees in offices. The other displays were definitely enticing to the children, but I'm not sure how much actually learning took place without an adult to explain what was going on. Go on into the museum for a more concrete educational experience.

When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public:
Official museum hours are 9:30 a.m - 5:30 p.m., (Closed Mondays), but the plaza seems to be open well outside of these times.
