According to the cornerstone, the church was erected in 1909. It's a beautiful pale rust brick building with four impressive white stone columns along the front of the porch area. There is a bronze metal rotunda, weathered green, on top of the church in its center. It has an interesting claim to fame: "Quitman was the final home of James Pierpont, author of "Jingle Bells". He was organist for the First Presbyterian Church." -- Source
