This beach includes fee paid areas of the state parks system. There is a large campground, with beach access, at the top of the bluffs and a paid parking lot. Free parking is available along Old US Highway 101 (aka Carlsbad Blvd.). From SanDiegoSunCoast.com:

With limited amenities, this location is usually less favorable than the other nearby beach areas of south Carlsbad. At it’s north end, you can walk out onto the beach. At the south end of the parking lot, it’s sometimes easiest to walk a bit further along the highway and take advantage of the gate at the north end of the campground, where wooden stairs lead down to the beach level.

Type of beach: Natural
