Akaroa is an interesting historical town to explore, a couple of hour drive from Christchurch. In this small town are 63 registered historical places. La Belle Vista B&B is one such interesting properties, #1763 on the list of registered historical properties in New Zealand. Originaly built as a the first doctor's surgery in 1868, it is now a pleasent bed and breakfast operated by Paul and Alice Hewitson. They have accomodations from a super king bed with en suite bathroom to a pair of singles twin bed with en suite. Prices currently range from NZ$130 to NZ$180.
