A resurrection of a popular vintage hamburger joint near Sam Houston State University, Mr. Hamburger offers several house-made gourmet sauces to give new flavor twists to the classic hamburger. Buns are fresh-baked in town, not delivered in a big truck. French fries and onion rings are cut to order, making theirs the best burgers in town. The beef here is fresh ground and NEVER frozen.
Located in the shadow of the Walls Unit of the Texas state prison system, (and home of the busiest death row in the nation), Mr. Hamburger has enough non-PC attitude to offer the Killer Burger -- and the culinary talent to make it live up to its name! :)
No, REALLY! Mama Blaster had the Killer burger, and it was wonderful. Daddy Blaster has the Original cheeseburger and loved it. Older Sister and Younger Sister Blasters each had a Professor burger, and loved the Greek fusion sauce that came on it (instead of boring old mayo).
Mama Blaster and Younger Sister Blaster got the onion rings, then had to keep defending them from poachers with our forks! Fortunately, the prospective poachers in the family generously offered respectable shares of their fresh-cut french fries, so we all shared pretty fairly.
And now, a few words from Mr. Hamburger himself: (

Mr. Hamburger was opened in 1959 by the Lindsey family of Huntsville at 710 11th Street. Opened as a classic American drive-in, customers parked under a canopy and walked to the window to place their order. Faithful fans knew Mr. Hamburger for its never-frozen, hand-formed beef patties, handmade onion rings, homemade chili, and, of course, the KILLER BURGER. Mr. Hamburger operated in this fashion for 46 years until I decided to take a vacation in 2005. While I was away, they closed my restaurant and tore the building down!
I re-opened at my new location at 918 11th Street in March 2011, just two blocks away from the original location. Every effort has been made to re-capture the original flavor that made Mr. Hamburger a staple of newspaper and travel magazine rankings as one of the best hamburger joints in Texas! Now with dine-in service you won't have to eat in your car! (unless you want to for oldtimes sake)." [end]
