The Clyde Railway Station was built in 1907 when the Otago Central Railway reached Clyde. The station is in what is described as a Troup B type station, designed by George Troup. The stations is a woodframe long narrow building with gable ends. The station was the railhead until 1921 when the New Zealand Railways extended the line to Cromwell. The station remained open until 1980. The station was threatened with demolition until a local group of history enthusiasts stepped in and converted the building for use as a history museum.
