Lom Sak is one of the district capitals of the Phetchabun province of northern Thailand. The town and the province date back to the 13th century, the founding of the Sukhothai Kingdom. There are ~150,000 people in the district, and maybe 20,000 in the town. The town has the basic amenities, and is a fairly busy place. The local economy is based upon agriculture.
On the western side of the town is the government precinct. A line of small, government buildings. In front of these buildings is a Buddhist shrine, for use by the staffers, and visitors to the precinct.
