The former Commercial Hotel was built in 1903 on the corner of Naylor Street and Sunderland Hotel on the site of an earlier hotel built in the early 1860s. Within its first year it was gutted by fire and the interior was rebuilt. The two story hotel is constructed of schist stone and has a hipped corrugated metal roof. The building has has many owners and leasees over the years. The building continues to operate as a hotel.
