The buildings were built circa 1869 with many additions and renovations over the years and are listed as a Category I building on the Historical Register. The building was constructed as the Benjamin Naylor's Store a noted merchant who made considerable wealth providing for the needs of the gold miners coming to the area in the 1860s. Benjamin Naylor arrived with the first wave of miners circa 1862 and built his general merchandise business serving the gold miners. His business thrived during the gold mining era. The building served as a general store for nearly 100 years. The buildings have now been converted to a restaurant and hotel complex.
