The first mention of Lysá nad Labem dates back to the 11th century when Czech prince Jaromír was imprisoned in an estate there on the orders of his brother Oldrich. Lysá nad Labem is documented as a town in a charter dating from 1291.

The town achieved major economic prosperity and cultural renown at the turn of the 18th century. At that time it was owned by Count František Antonín Špork, a zealous patron of the arts who converted his Lysá Chateau into an art centre focused mainly on music and sculpture.

Today, the Lysa nad Labem Chateau serves as a retirement home.

První historická zmínka o Lysé nad Labem pochází z 11. století, kdy byl ve zdejším sídle na príkaz svého bratra Oldricha veznen ceský kníže Jaromír. Jako mesto je Lysá nad Labem doložena listinou vydanou v roce 1291.

V následujících staletích si zdejší panství uchovávalo prevážne zemedelský ráz. Znacného hospodárského rozkvetu a kulturního vehlasu dosáhla Lysá nad Labem v dobe vrcholného baroka, na prelomu 17. a 18. století. Tehdy patrila hrabeti Františku Antonínu Šporkovi, velkému mecenáši umení, který ze svého zámku v Lysé ucinil umelecké centrum zamerené predevším na hudbu a socharství.
