This depth gauge is located on open ground close to the river edge and next to a pumping station. This area, close to the river here has been known to flood, especially following an excess amount of rain.
The gauge is fixed and is calibrated to a fixed datum

The gauge measures from 5.0m to 6.5m above the fixed datum. These are divided into 100mm measurements, and then sub divided into 20mm segments.
