The Patton house, completed in 1929, was designed by a local structural engineer, Louis B. Humphrys. At the time it was built, the area was suburban, located near the city's water reservoir. The house is a Tudor Revival style on a well-landscaped lot, with a semi-circular driveway and an attached two-car garage. The landscaping was also designed by Humprhys in the tradition of the typical setting of English country houses.
The Patton's, educated in the northeast, came to the Rogue Valley in 1914 and became prosperous fruit growers, working for 15 years before having this house built at the edge of town.
