'De Arend' and the 'Snelheid' were the first locomotives in the Netherlands. Together they pulled the official opening train on the first railway line in the Netherlands between Amsterdam and Haarlem Willemspoort on September 20, 1839.

This locomotive is a replica and is permanently based in the Dutch Railroad museum in Utrecht. It is considered one of the main attractions of the museum.
