Orange Commercial Historic District near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, 2 have been previously listed on the NRHP and 61 are considered contributing structures to the architectural history which encompasses three eras spanning the 19th and early 20th centuries -- as a courthouse town, a railroad town, and an automobile town.
The Orange Post Office at 129 W. Main St. was built in 1935. The one-story brick building was constructed under the supervision of architect Louis A. Simon. Designed in the Colonial Revival style, the post office is an example of the architecture of the early 20th-century automobile age. It is still in operation today.
