The World War I plaque on the cenotaph reads:
"Lest We Forget"
In Memory of the Men of Athabasca and District Who Fell in the Great War,
1914 - 1918.
In addition there is another plaque dedicated to World War II combatants:
Lest We Forget
In Memory of the Men of Athabasca and District Who Lost Their Lives in World War II
The cenotaph is centrally located across from the Royal Canadian Legion and other community facilities. Nearby the community pool, the 'old brick school' and Riverside Park are within walking disctance to anyone that wishes to visit this memorial. Although it is situated along the road a small grove of spruce trees adds to the importance of this location for the community.
