Official description:
A three-tiered fountain stands in an octagonal basin. A pair of water nymphs are seated by the fluted stem of the lower bowl. The upper bowl has cherubs which make up its stem. Water spouts from lions' heads which ring the middle basin. Topping the fountain is a full-length figure of Venus standing in a bed of water lilies and pouring water from a jar she holds in her hands.
The fountain is the centerpiece of the city park with nearby benches to enjoy it during warmer months.
The original incriptions of A. G. EGBERT MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN and 1896 have been augmented by two attached brass plaques. On the east side, it reads: "This plaque is in memory of Walter Richards whose interest and dedication led to the restoration of the Egbert Memorial Fountain." On the west end, it says: "Restoration completed by the labors of the Franklin Jaycees with the support of friends and citzenship of Franklin. - May 20, 1979 -"
