This church was built in 1665 and it used to be part of the Convent São João de Deus. Nowadays, the former convent gave way to a classic hotel and to this church. The remaining buildings and grounds are in a poor shape.

Although it was initially built in the 17th Century, most of what we see today is a fruit of the renovation which took place in 1723. Later, in 1968, it was renovated again, with some support from the Government but mostly with money donated by influential families of Moura.
