With the expansion of the Italian community in west Trail in the 1930s, it became necessary to create a new Catholic Parish. This Romanesque Revival style church was built to serve the predominantly working class Italian community. Inauguration and the first midnight mass were held on Christmas Eve, 1938.

In January of 1943 disaster struck when the church was razed by fire. A new church was built with the same design as the original, with inauguration taking place on October 3rd of that year.

This simple and dignified church has been designated a heritage site by the city of Trail.
Year of construction: 1938
