Cades Cove Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1839 by a group of people who left the Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church over the question of missionary work. The church did not meet during the Civil War. A Sunday School was started in 1898 and continued until the church closed in 1944. The current building dates from 1915.
