LU0105 - NGS 'W 546 RESET 1973' BM - Redding, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this National Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1973 in good condition. It is located on the south side of Hwy 299 heading east and near a fence and metal white witness post. This benchmark also appears on a topography map as BM 589. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for station recovery.

DESCRIBED BY CA DIV OF HIGHWAYS 1973 4.2 MI SW FROM BELLA VISTA. 4.2 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 299 FROM THE POST OFFICE AT BELLA VISTA, 5.5 MILES NORTHEAST OF REDDING, NEAR THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF SECTION 15, T 32 N, R 4 W, 0.4 MILE SOUTHWEST OF BRIDGE 6-44 OVER STILLWATER CREEK, 63 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE EAST BOUND LANES, 4.5 FEET NORTH OF A FENCE, 1.2 FEET NORTHWEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.2 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
