Christina Lake is located 23 kilometers east of Grand Forks, just 1 km north of the United States border. There is a pullout on the Crowsnest Highway, where the information sign is located.

"Christina Lake known as the Oasis of the Kootenays offering some of the best summer weather in British Columbia.” It is also known as the warmest lake in Canada.
"The lake is long and more than 180 meters deep in some sections. The warm water temperatures can be attributed to the sizeable fault that runs through the middle of the lake: which supplies constant geothermal heat. Temperatures range to 23 degrees Celsius (73 degrees Fahrenheit) in the summer."
Christina Lake is a tourist destination for those who enjoy its natural beauty, boating, fishing, camping, hiking and a wide array of other outdoor activities.
“Christina Lake was named for Christina McDonald, the daughter of the Hudson's Bay Company chief factor Angus McDonald of Fort Colville (1852-1871), who started a ranch in the Shuswap with her husband.”
The Trans Canada Trail, Dewdney Trail and the Kettle Valley Railroad Trail all merge at Christina Lake.
The town of Christina Lake is home to approximately 1456 permanent residents in the winter and thousands more in the summer months.

We often pass Christina Lake going to Grand Forks, Kelowna and all points west. It is beautiful any time of the year. There are photographs taken last winter when the lake was frozen and one that was taken just a few months ago.
