The Pleasant Hill Christian Church, was established in 1828. The red brick Church building was built in 1904, as evidenced by the date on the cornerstone. The town of Pleasant Hill, was platted in 1832, by Christian Bever. Christian is buried in the Bever family plot, at Greenlawn Cemetery, at the north end of town.
The town was renamed, by the townspeople, to Wingate, after prominent local dignitary, John C Wingate.
The Church is now known as Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ.
It sits on SR 25, on the south end of town, adjacent to the town's Bane Park.
