Marker Text: The Butler Drug Store was the first independent drug store in Redmond at the time of its construction in 1915. Just three years after building his store, J.D. Butler, the proprietor, contracted influenza in a nation-wide epidemic and died. His wife, Meda, ran the operation until 1946. The store had exclusive rights to the Rexall and Hyal lines of pharmaceutical products, home remedies and sundries. The building housed a drugstore for 66 years
