The dial is engraved slate about 10’ square on an Oamaru stone plinth. The gnomon is bronze. The bronze plaques on four sides say “The Desert : Shall Rejoice : And Blossom : As The Rose”. Twelve hours are marked with Roman numerals, from VI to VI.

The slate is in poor condition, cracked and scratched. There is no other information on the sundial indicating date, purpose, or corrections for clock time. The herbaceous border, with a range of colours and textures showing the mass effect of herbaceous perenials was created in the 1920’s. Perhaps the sundial is that old.
Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
