This attractive brick public steam bath facility was built in 1912 for Virginia’s early Finnish immigrant community. Although its days as a sauna have passed, there are many who will look back on their “Saturday night baths” with fond memories, for the social aspect as much as cleanliness. There were a half dozen private rooms down a long hall each with adjoining dressing room; a single larger group sauna was in the back with a shower/dressing room. The building was added to the National Register in 1980 and is now privately owned.
