Pseudo-Rennaisance General Post Office building had been located in the place of the first botanical gardens in Central Europe. It was developed in 1871-1874 by architect J. Belsky. The rectangular hall is covered by the glass roof and the vestibule is decorated by allegorical paintings with theme of postal and transport bussines. The main post office is open daily from 02.00 to 24.00 hrs.
There is also headquarters/switchboard of Prague pneumatic post. The Prague pneumatic post is the world's last preserved municipal pneumatic post system. It is an underground system of metal tubes under the wider centre of Prague, totalling about 55 kilometres (34 mi) in length. Known as the Old Lady of Czech telecommunications, the system started service in 1889 and remained in use by the government, banks and the media
