"The Farrar Building was built in 1917 for Elizabeth Farrar and the heirs of her brother, John Fields Farrar [one-time postmaster for Salem]....The single-story brick masonry building with buff-colored pressed brick facing was designed by Salem architect Fred A. Legg, who had earlier designed the R.P. Boise Building, a National Register property located one block west on State Street." -NRHP Nomination Form
A distinctive feature is the pair of gables, each displaying a monogram "F." The building also contains a very well-preserved cornice made of galvanized sheet metal and featuring posts and keystones.
