The Friends of the Riverwalk, (Known as FRW) is a committee of the Foothills Rails-to-Trails. The FRW took on this project to create a park to honor the Veterans of the area. This project was paid for by donations from local residents and businesses. (No taxpayer dollars)

The tree carving included the following animals: Racoons, Owls, Fish, Eagles, and Mushrooms and Gnomes.

The FRW volunteers have been working to beautify the trail along the Puyallup River. Their long term goal is to connect the Puyallup Trail to the cities of Tacoma, Edgewood, Orting, and Sumner.

The artist is Jason Smathers, a local chain saw artist that has done carvings in Buckley and Orting. Phone #360-346-0084.
