DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1970 15.4 MI E FROM KIOWA. NEW DESCRIPTION-- 13.4 MILES EAST ALONG STATE HWY. 86 FROM THE COURTHOUSE AT KIOWA, ELBERT COUNTY, THENCE 1.9 MILES NORTH ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD TO A T-ROAD SOUTH, THENCE 1.6 MILES EAST ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD TO THE TOP OF A RISE, 285 FEET EAST OF THE JCT. WITH A GRAVEL ROAD NORTH, 24 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, AND 6 FEET SOUTH OF THE ROW FENCE. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED U 52 1934, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.
The bench mark is just to the West of the witness post. I almost missed it when I searched for it, as it was covered with a light layer of dirt. Some careful digging may be required.
