This somewhat oversized nutmeg is located in the centre of Singapore's shopping extravaganza, Orchard Road, where expensive and classy items from around the world are available in a seemingly never ending "special sale". Once upon a time, this area was usefully used to grow nutmegs. In remembrance of this past the prolific Singaporean artist Kumari Nahappan has this giant herb on the footpath, adjacent to one of these consumeristic shopping malls.
The nutmeg is ~3m in its major axis, a dark brown in colour, and split open, to reveal the source of its flavour and price. There is an accompanying plaque (in gallery), displaying the details and history of the nutmeg.
