This benchmark is a reference mark for the "Crater" benchmark, located on Fumarole Butte, situated northwest of Delta, Utah, in the south central area of the state.

This benchmark is on the top of Fumarole Butte, on the northern ring of the crater. Being a Reference Mark, it is situated just west of the "Crater" benchmark. This butte is at the north end of about a three mile dirt road that leaves Brush Wellman Road at about mile marker 25. The road is a bit sketchy with many areas of volcanic rock exposed. It can be reached by a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but use caution, especially after recent rain.
The USCGS data sheet describes its location as follows:
"REFERENCE MARK 2, A STANDARD REFERENCE DISK STAMPED CRATER NO 2 1965, IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 5 INCHES. THE MARK IS ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER IN ELEVATION THAN STATION, 8 FEET WEST OF EAST RIM OF BENCH AND 6 FEET WEST OF CAIRN."
