The sailors are depicted in different clothing. One near the shelter wears a duffle coat, scarf and woolly hat to keep warm. Two either side of the plaque also wear coats and hold binoculars.

Portsmouth Naval Memorial has many aspects honouring those who have died in the wars and have no grave but the sea.
