Alfred Bessette dit le Frère André, né sous le nom d'Alfred Bessette, (9 août 1845 – 6 janvier 1937) est un religieux canadien-français, du Québec, à qui sont attribuées de nombreuses guérisons miraculeuses. Il est considéré comme saint par l'Église catholique romaine depuis le 17 octobre 2010, sous le nom de saint Frère André.
Dès son enfance, Alfred est frêle et souvent malade. Bien qu'il soit très pieux, rien ne laisse présager qu'il puisse vivre longtemps et qu'il devienne l'homme religieux le plus célèbre au Québec. À partir de la fin des années 1870, sa réputation de saint et de thaumaturge grandit, malgré le fait qu'il soit presque illettré.
Son envergure dépasse même les frontières pour s'étendre partout en Amérique, puis en Europe et dans le reste du monde. À Montréal, il a réussi à faire construire une imposante basilique dédiée à saint Joseph, et humblement nommée Oratoire Saint-Joseph, où viennent se recueillir environ deux millions de visiteurs par année, de toutes les origines, cultures, doctrines ou croyances.
Béatification le 23 mai 1982, par Jean-Paul II, à Rome.

Alfred Bessette said the brother André, born as Alfred Bessette, (August 9, 1845 – January 6, 1937) is a Canadian-French cleric, of Quebec, to whom are attributed many miraculous healings. It is considered to be holy by the Roman Catholic Church since October 17, 2010, under the name of saint brother André.
As a child, Alfred is frail and often sick. Although it is very pious, there is no reason to predict that he may live long and become the most famous religious man in the province of Quebec. From the end of the 1870s, its reputation for saint and miracle worker grew up, despite the fact that he was almost illiterate.
Its scope goes beyond even the borders spread throughout America, and then in Europe and in the rest of the world. In Montreal, he managed to build a large Basilica dedicated to saint Joseph, and humbly named Saint Joseph's oratory, where come gather around two million visitors per year from all backgrounds, cultures, doctrines or beliefs.
