We met as undergraduates but didn't date for several years. Yes, it was love at first sight, but studies got in the way, and we knew that it would be hard to finish college if we were distracted by marriage.
We spent many days and evenings strolling around the campus together on the way to the library, and walking to the apartment complex we both lived at.
Ron graduated a year before Jean, and he returned on homecoming weekend the following year, from his job in Pennsylvania. Ron proposed the evening after the football game, asking Jean if she would be his wife no matter where they ended up living. She said "yes" without hesitation, and a Bicentennial wedding was planned.
