The local surveyors seem to have used many of the municipal water tanks. This one is located on the north side of Canton, Alabama.

The tower itself is located on Glenview Avenue, near the corner of 6th Street. It can be reached easily on 7th Street North, which is also U.S. Highway 31. The tank is painted white with no special markings.

The description from the datasheet reads:

01/01/1971 by NGS (FIRST OBSERVED)

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1971 (JLC) THE CLANTON MUNICIPAL WATER TANK IS LOCATED IN THE NORTH SECTION OF TOWN. TO REACH THE TANK FROM THE CLANTON POST OFFICE, GO WEST ON THE PAVED STREET FOR 0.05 MILE TO ITS JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 31. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 31 FOR 0.2 MILE TO ITS JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 22. CONTINUE NORTH ON HIGHWAY 31 FOR 0.15 MILE TO A CROSS STREET. TURN RIGHT ON GLENVIEW AVENUE AND GO EAST FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE TANK ON THE LEFT. IT IS A FOUR-LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE, PAINTED SILVER, WITH AN ELLIPTICAL TOP, AND IS 90 FEET HIGH. THE POINT INTERSECTED WAS THE TOP CENTER.
