Wurrungwuri consists of two parts. The first part is constructed of 260 sandstone blocks arranged in a wave form. The sculpture weighs 350 tons. The second part is a monolith constructed of 16,000 threaded quartz pebbles and is decorated with a pattern from a rare Aboriginal shield, the Sydney shield. The sculpture is designed to encourage native flora and fauna to take up residence. Inside the quartz monoliths are boxes for small bats to roost.
