My favourite, however, is the scene of our protagonist walking on the top of the arches of the bridge, likely zonked out on drugs. In it, the Teck Cominco Smelter, the lifeblood of the town, can be seen in the lower background. To get their shots of this sequence from the angle they did, they must have had a boat in the river. I don't have a boat, so my shot is from a higher angle, from the opposite bank.

Shot entirely in Trail, it includes scenes from many sections of the city. A microbudget film, it was written and directed by Soren Johnstone in 2009 and stars Michael Townsend. It won the ReelHeART International Film Festival prize for Best Cinematography.

Scenes are taken from the trailer.

The plot: (IMBD)
"The sun begins to rise but for some the night is still going. The hum from the smelter takes over the morning radiance. Then the shift change gauges and the town rises. This is the suicide hour. Set in the gutters of an industrial town, 'Play With Fire' follows the unsettling life of Christian. His best friend, Joel - a flailing megalomaniac - pushes him into a corner by getting him involved in a scheme undercutting the wrong people. The love of his life, Melody, gives him the chance to start over by leaving town with her. This is where Christian's story of twisted loyalty, love and loss begins."
